Problem:
The system currently displays projected weekly hours for each employee, calculated from set shift start and end times. In our service-based business, we frequently adjust shifts in real time depending on how busy the day is—sometimes sending employees home early (“cut”) or having them stay later than scheduled. This often results in scheduled hours not matching actual hours worked, which leads to confusion when paychecks don’t align with what was shown on the schedule.
Suggested Solutions:
Add an option to toggle off or hide weekly hour totals from the employee view.
Allow the ability to label the end of a shift as "cut" or "close" instead of entering a specific end time—essentially making the end time open-ended and based on flow.
Benefit:
These changes would better reflect the realities of service-based scheduling, reduce employee confusion around hours/pay discrepancies, and give managers more flexibility when planning staffing needs.
